Just do it – Equality in Sport 2
9-16 september 2023 in Rustavi, Georgia
In September 2023, the second part of the youth exchange "JUST DO IT: EQUALITY IN SPORTS" took place. This Erasmus+ project is run by Cooperative Fjället in cooperation with Gislaved Municipality and partner organizations in Georgia 🇬🇪, Croatia 🇭🇷, and Ukraine 🇺🇦.
This time, the young participants gathered in Rustavi, Georgia, where the Swedish group reunited with their friends from the other participating countries. Together they experienced an inspiring week filled with learning, activities, and cultural exchange, with a continued focus on gender equality in sports.
The week included many memorable activities such as rafting, water sports, jogging sessions, and team-building exercises, as well as deep discussions and workshops on gender norms and young people's right to participate in sports on equal terms. The participants actively engaged in conversations, role-playing, and group exercises, where they identified problems and worked together to develop practical solutions.
The result of their work was a practical handbook filled with the participants' own perspectives, ideas, and suggestions on how to promote greater gender equality in sports. In addition, the participants created a film documenting the project and highlighting their message—a powerful tool for spreading awareness and engagement to a wider audience.
Just like during the first part of the exchange in Sweden, cultural evenings were organized where participants shared food, music, and traditions from their home countries. The Swedish group presented classic Swedish flavors and games, while the Georgian hosts showcased their rich culture through dance and hospitality.
Throughout the week, all participants worked with Youthpass and received a personal certificate highlighting the skills and knowledge they developed during the project—an important document to include in future studies or job applications.
We are incredibly proud of the young participants' dedication and the work they have done. The handbook and the film are clear proof that young people can make a difference—together.
